As we enter a new chapter in our lives, we fail to notice that there are political issues that have affected us. We've discussed our options, our responsibilities...we've decided that in order to move forward with starting a family, buying a house in the near future we must think about our options. What sounded like the best option that worked for us in the past was to have Alex reenlist to active duty, but this time change his MOS (military occupational specialty) to something less intense, more safe, and simply something he will enjoy. Considering this, he wanted to become a firefighter...granted he might get deployed but better as a firefighter than an MP where he was near death as roadside bombings hit his hum-v. Needless to say, our plan was altered when we received a FEDEX letter that soon changed everything.


Srgt Alexander Farinas, you have been considered for RECALL TO ACTIVE DUTY. In other words, he is to report to Missouri in a couple of weeks to see if he is eligible and medically cleared to return to active. Of course nothing will hinder from him being INelgible...so it's pretty much set... Alex will be recalled to active duty and report to his station either in pendleton or North Carolina...then deploy.


How do I feel, many people asked...I broke into tears when i heard about the news. My minds been wandering and I'm stressed out about the situation. Only God can guide us now.

Ultimate brownie points for the hubby for cleaning our entire apt! It was seriously like a tornado hit our place, because it was ridiculously messy...I'm talking about episode of friends with rebecca romijn's apt messy...j/k! NOT that messy, but seriously! To my surprise, I come home from a 12 hour shift of diaper changing, breastfeeding galore to an immaculate apt. Even the bathroom was clean! I gotta tell yah...i scored well...this guy was a keeper the minute i knew he didn't mind the cleaning...that's military for ya. As for me...love to cook, hate to clean!...and of all places, the bathroom. To tell you the truth, i'm much messier in the bathroom than he is...i've got my makeup and hair gadgets all over the counter, strands of hair posted on the walls of the shower like hot bright colored post-its on a textbook. Gotta love it!


Day 2 of awesome tv shows...90210 was on tonight...So, I was a little skeptical about the whole remake of one of my all time favorite show...until they announced that they were bringing in some old familiar faces. It's just a shame that Luke Perry is being "too cool for school" and not wanting to come back for guest appearances like he always did. Love him! Needless to say, the show is quite the drama for your over the top hollywood steeze. It'll never rule out the original, but the new class has potential and with Kelly and Brenda back in the show, it's even more exciting to see what's in store for the upcoming episodes. The new cast are ohkay...but it's just getting better and they are kinda growing on me. Bring Dylan back and you'll up the ratings even more!


Sex and the City is now on DVD...a must have!

It's premiere week for many highly anticipated tv shows...and to start it off right...HEROES was on my list. Thank goodness for Tivo or DVR...yah right! We don't own one...so of course, i'm one of the unfortunate souls that have to flip back and forth through all the channels just to get a glimpse of the Chargers game (which by the way...was freaken awesome!), Gossip Girl, Countdown to Heroes, One Tree Hill, Big Bang Theory, How I met your Mother, Terminator, and the Hills. The hell was i supposed to do? I ended up watching Heroes of course...didn't really get into GG or OTH...i just watch it when there's nothing else on. Lucky for me The Hills had a replay of tonight's episode at 11. Lol...i feen for the drama...only because it's pure entertainment! Anyways..i'd recap the Heroes Saga for all you fanatics out there...but instead I leave you with a humorous clip i found. Enjoy, suckas!

Marriage...it's a beautiful thing!

Over the weekend, we hung out with Alex's "married w/ kids" friends and celebrated Ayden's 5th bday (our ring bearer). Drove down to mira mesa where we met up with some friends at PUMP IT UP...inflatables galore! It was like our own astro jumping experience in a humongo room! Felt like a kid again...good times!












Being a kid...is freaken awesome. No worries, no responsibilities...carefree, fun loving,...and seriously, just having a grand ol' time. Now...having a kid? That's a whole other story...talk about entering a new chapter of adulthood...this is a reality check of full blown responsibilities left and right! Of course, kids are cute, loveable, and all kinds of sweet...well, sometimes at least. And who's ever REALLY ready for parenthood? Sometimes it can "accidentally" happen or the smart thing would be to actually plan it right. How can you really plan, actually...let me rephrase that...how can you really be ready for that plan? Regardless to that response...you kinda just go with it. And that's what parenting is about...you learn and relearn...you see what works, you get what you get and make changes. With that said, am I ready? Or should I say...are WE ready? I absolutely LOVE kids! And hey...I see newborn babies ALL the time, given that I work at the postpartum unit. There hasn't been a day where I haven't heard those words uttered by many, "So when are you planning to have a baby?" I should turn around and give them a little slap and say, "Are you gonna help me with the expenses?" ...just kidding...


There's been talk...don't get me wrong...we've discussed it. At this point, we're not at all financially ready to have a baby...but our hearts have it. I can see how much Alex loves his nephew, Elijah, and how playful he is towards him. He's gonna be a great dad. I see how his eyes lit up when he plays with his nephew...it's amazing. For the past few weeks or so, we've been surrounded by babies, toddlers, and a crowd of kids...so it's only natural to feel that "desire" to have kids of our own as well. We shall see... only time will tell. As of right now, i love my husband and i love spending every moment with him...


With that said...happy 1 year anniversary to us! Hubby LOVED the new watch...going out to dinner in Cardiff tonight and take a bite of our wedding cake and have some bubbly!...that's just the snack..."dessert" later...OW! hahaha.

One of the things that makes us human is the ability to empathize with other people. We feel their joy and also their sadness. At a time when another person is enduring a hardship, it is an act of great kindness to help shoulder their burden of pain. Families are brought together, memories are held within. But what we offer to each other is the love that will forever be in our hearts as we keep HIM in our prayers. Rest in peace, Uncle Jess!

With our anniversary just around the corner, I did some shopping today. Traditionally, each year is celebrated with a significant gift with the 1st one being "paper" Nowadays, they have come up with the more modern gift where the 1st year is a "clock." I wasn't gonna buy a clock for my husband so instead I got him a new watch. For the traditional "paper" gift, I was gonna create my own version of The Notebook with our old love letters from when he was deployed to Iraq. Hope he likes it...don't know what our other plans are for the weekend...but I do know that we will be having our delicious wedding cake that we preserved! strawberry mocha covered in dark chocolate! mmmMMmmm!

Time is running out...I have to get going to class now...then make dinner when I get back like a good wifey should!

So I just got home from a long ass day of CLINICALS! I'm just glad that we only have to do grunt work with no pay just once a week. It's crazy because right now we are only taking care of one patient...we're able to thoroughly assessed our patient, and hey...even have a conversation with them without being pressured for time. In reality, that NEVER happens. God forbid you get stuck in a room for hours at a time, then get lectured about how late you clocked out, only to be eating away the company's money just because you were doing patient care...some of us at least, while the other 30% is lazy, incompetent and delegates their responsibilities to the other staff because, well, they don't feel like it. That's the real world. Careplans? I guess in the long run they do help us take care of our patients...but we don't ever write out a full careplan...it's already there in plain text. It's just busy work, I say. The real knowledge is applying what you learn into your skills and improve what has been researched. You can bore yourself with the monotony of schoolwork, but you have to apply your knowledge for any of it to make sense. Otherwise...you're just screwed...

I gotta say...i'm pretty damn proud of myself for keeping up with the update status on the blogging game... pretty impressive on my part. I kinda had to write about this, matter of fact...i had to post a clip of it...because it was by far the funniest thing i've seen in awhile. Many girls can relate actually to our "first encounter" our "moment" into womanhood. The sister came over...did some sisterly bonding time...picked up some L&L's, hit up the blockbuster and leave with Mad Money (Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Katie Holmes)...which BTW was surprisingly GOOD! ...also picked up Charlie Bartlett which now leaves me with this hilarious clip...

I wasn't too sure about our movie choices...but I do applaud. Both movies get a two thumbs up for comic relief and good fun. A little edgy for a somewhat teenflick for charlie bartlett. A high school preppy kid whose been caught in the mix of mayhem is followed by troubled teenage issues/conflict, who ultimately plays the school's psych liason and dare I say...drug dealer. Maybe I was just amused by the above clip...but you can be the judge.

A little late on the blogging game...I've decided to post up some pics from last weekend at DnB's. It's been exactly a year since I've stepped foot into this place and that was for Snoozie's bday. Now i know why i'm not a huge fan of this place...because it is overly crowded and there are people there that shouldn't even BE there. FYI: Parents, don't bring along the little rascals on a saturday night full of drunken 20something year olds. That's what Chuck E Cheese is for. It was supposed to be a bday get together for a friend of Liza and Phil's but the celebrant didn't even show up till 10 or so. We got there thinking that we would fill up our hungry tummies with some comfort food...but it was nearly 2 hours for the wait! Hell no! Decided to hit up the bar area and get our grub on...but the only tables available in the area were the wooden stools near the gaming area. Of course, they woudn't serve us. Finally got a table, good food, and drunk times! We even left the place to consummate an "Alex Jr!"

So the labor day weekend continues as we celebrate my dad's 54th birthday. (So many bdays these past few weeks!). Nothing beats homecooked bbq ribs, mashed potatoes, corn with the family you love. mmMMmm finger lickin' good. haha.
