Time stands still

With our anniversary just around the corner, I did some shopping today. Traditionally, each year is celebrated with a significant gift with the 1st one being "paper" Nowadays, they have come up with the more modern gift where the 1st year is a "clock." I wasn't gonna buy a clock for my husband so instead I got him a new watch. For the traditional "paper" gift, I was gonna create my own version of The Notebook with our old love letters from when he was deployed to Iraq. Hope he likes it...don't know what our other plans are for the weekend...but I do know that we will be having our delicious wedding cake that we preserved! strawberry mocha covered in dark chocolate! mmmMMmmm!

Time is running out...I have to get going to class now...then make dinner when I get back like a good wifey should!

Love it/Hate it

Love it...
-Iphone: I'm on my phone more than I ever was (holler at a huge upgrade from a janky ass flip phone with a battery life of a minute...literally!)
-macbook pro...mac versus a pc? i don't think i'll ever go back to a pc!
-NETFLIX...13 bucks a month with unimited movies beats the $10 lame flicks on the big screen...holler at the blu-ray
-"Go Green"...more eco-friendly equals unity
-potatoes...a quickie sidedish yet so versatile
-air conditioner...perfect for inland living
-online shopping...no hassles with lines, lame people, poor customer service (in person, that is-hence the lame people)
-sleep...it's ME time

Hate it...
-apartment living...no privacy, no space, no more
-noisy neighbors...and i mean, "bedroom" noisy...keep it private, please...nobody needs to know your business (hence the apartment living)
-clinicals...doing all the dirty work with no pay...we act like the nurses' "bitches"...shady business
-overcrowded Walmart...it says it all
-dishes...i cook, i don't clean

Guilty Pleasure

It's what we crave, it's what we desire. Think of it as a good distraction, a mind pleaser. Food is a common example of "guilty pleasure." They say most women go through it in monthly cycles, but i beg the differ. I think we all have some kind of guilty pleasure whether it be food, money, sex...anything really. I guess in some cases, it can be a distraction, a "pause" to an irreversible circumstance to just...get away. It's almost a sense of freedom from what can be occurring RIGHT NOW...For instance, your problems, work, home, and sadly...even loss...a loss of a home, work, or loved one. I say this only because we've all been through a similar situation one way or another. It's something most people can relate to. Is it so wrong when there are given situations that cannot be dealt with immediately and one detaches from the situation by having a good time? i.e. drinking, partying, whatever. Guilty pleasure. Is it so wrong to send the kids to grandma's to get a piece of mind? Guilty pleasure. Is it so wrong to have a cigarette every now and then? Guilty pleasure. It makes life worth living, right? What is your definition of a guilty pleasure?

Friendship

Status Update... It was a birthday celebration for the SISTERS! The youngest is not so young anymore as she just turned 19...Damn, when I think about it...the hell was I doing at 19? Oh yah...causing ruckus in my single life with my partner in crime, Miss Dae Santos. When there were no worries, just livin' the life!

It's funny to see a group of girlfriends, because no matter what LADIES share one thing in common in any goup setting...and that's the BOND we hold that can never be replaced. And though it sounds cliche, it is true, for the most part. Female bonding- it's what we need...sometimes that's all you need...no boys, no relationships, no worries...just having your girlfriend right beside you can mean more than you think. Of course, it works vice versa...you see it in the military...the camaraderie among male soldiers. You see the same people, you wake up and engage in the same routine. It's trust. These are the people you confide with, share stories, share memories...your friends.

Weekend Recap

I don't know if it's the mindset of being on vacation for a whole other week since we've been back from Maui...but i gotta tell yah, the laziness has kicked in. Luggage is still parked in the middle of our living room and laundry left unfolded...i only have a couple more days till i go back to work. And...here I am blogging about my mess when i should be cleaning like a good wifey. It's alright...got 2 and half more hours till the hubby comes home from work...I score some points today as I have the awesome steak marinating in the fridge waiting to be grilled just in time as he walks in that front door. Sometimes you just need a vacation from your vacation to get readjusted to the swing of things.

Weekend was good...spent some quality time with the family and the in-laws. Friday...hung out with the cousins for a good old fashion bbq, wine, beer, and olympics. Saturday...head down south to chill with alex's friends where we found ourselves more belligerent than you can imagine...all you need is 3 bottles of crown, coke, and the magic mic! Then you've got yourself an awesome night with good friends and great memories. Sunday...planned to see Al and Charlie at the finish line of the half marathon...but couldn't managed to get ourselves out of bed with a hangover...(I was actually fine, hubby was not!) Heard they finished under 2 and half hours...good job you guys! Don't know how some of our other friends were able to see them run the show when clearly they were not up to par. So with it being a lazy sunday, we just spent some quality time with the in-laws...alex's nephew is too cute for words...almost walking...he's just about ready!

Tropic Thunder...mixed reviews on this one. It had its moments...not one of Ben Stiller's best performance...definitely could have waited till it hit Netflix...should have seen pineapple express instead.

And to break the monotony of this blog...I leave you with the clip of the week!

So the hubby and I are back from our beautiful vacation in paradise! Had the chance to stay an extra day because the flight was full and they were willing to accommodate those who would stay another day in MAUI with free breakfast, hotel, and flight for the next day. Too bad another family beat us to it. It's okay...we will DEFINITELY be back next year!

When you take a break from reality...that's what it is...a break. It's a moment without thinking, a moment to live. Alex and I are approaching our 1st year anniversary and it's been a wonderful, blissful year...of course, it takes some time to readjust and find ourselves, and of course learn about one another. We've had our ups and downs, financial disputes (like every other couple goes through), lived with the parentals for awhile, finally getting a place of our own, and sharing memories. I've actually learned how to cook...it's one of my new found passion...(i am the best hostess at holiday parties...and YES, even if i AM the drunkest of the bunch!)

Alright...you're probably wondering, "where's the pictures? how was the trip?" Just got back from developing our waterproof film camera...talk about ancient! I haven't used one of those in years...welcome to the digital age. So we had 3 film cameras...unfortunately my dumbass couldn't find the rewind button (on the very bottom of the camera...who woulda thunk it?) Such a tiny ass button...i figured it was rewounded so i opened it...and yes, exposing the film...hubby tried to fix it but he didn't help much either...trying to roll it up manually with his fingerprints all over the film strip. Too bad, so sad...those were the best shots too of the close up sea turtles that we had taken during our snorkel trip. At least we had 2 more cameras to develop. So back from walmart, getting all kinds of excited, when we see our janky quality pictures from our underwater experience! Sooo need an SLR camera with a casing...like how the pros do it. Oh well, there's always next time and we will hold these for memories sake.

And now for your viewing pleasure...

Blah blah blah...

Resurrection So I've done myself good and this time will continue to post some intriguing stories...more importantly...my life. Been there, done that...explored the whole XANGA invasion...when every event needed a storytelling, picture posing, and even a boring day needed a recap. It is interesting, to say the least, to know what your friends and family have been going through...it's pure entertainment. And hey Perez Hilton does it...it's where we get our latest gossip. We feen on stuff like that. Like i said...pure entertainment. No need to call a friend up to see how their day went...just read about it. "A picture speaks a thousand words..." So with that said...i'll be posting some pictures from our "delayed" honeymoon trip to MAUI .... I say delayed...because we are nearly approaching our 1st year anniversary and have not experienced the ultimate honeymoon getaway until now...WHY, you ask? School, of course...not quite done...gimme a year if things go well, i'll be done (finally!)

See you in a week! Aloha!
