Spring Break!!! A much needed break from school, I only worked two days this week. Then again...i only work twice a week...holler at the 12 hour shifts so I can take long days off in between! haha. Pretty much stayed in san diego, because my preggo belly can't take me anywhere. I waddle like a duck for goodness sakes. It's all good tho...at 7 months, i still look cute! haha j/k!

Good times with great friends! Sarah's bday dinner at Min Sok Chon turned out to be one of the best nights with the B!tches! This time i took the backseat watching my friends with their drunkiness, singing old school songs like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston...holler at kyxy 96.5 for awesome karaoke tunes! haha. Nonetheless, I had a good time with the B!tches...no need to be in a drunken stupor. My ladies are awesome and i heart them.

The bitches rendition of Paula Abdul's "Rush Rush!" It's freaken hilarious! Just check out Juli's facial expression! LOL!

the Fam Bam... On saturday, we headed down to Mira Mesa for a family BBQ. I was sooo hungry, because I skipped breakfast (never again!) so I pretty much ate for an entire family. haha. Heffer for life! It's been awhile since I've seen all my cousins, aunties, and uncles so they were pretty excited to see my forever growing belly.

"The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart."- Elizabeth Foley

It's been long overdue and a much needed reunion to happen. Juli pulled it off and was able to get the B!tches (minus 3) together for a random brunch and movie date on a rainy afternoon. Shit was pouring that day but I knew I had to see the bffs! All you can eat pancakes at Ihop to get us started. I like how we knew what to order for Love...over medium, orange juice, coffee, and water. Damn...dehydrated! haha...and always making the entrance...

After the foodies, we headed to starbucks...bottomless coffee wasn't enough for us. Juli was our chauffeur and offered to drive us across the street so we didn't have to take all of our cars to the theatre. I was treated like a princess for the day (I gotta tell yah...i can get used to this!) so I got shotty while the other three fought over the window seat in the back.

Freakin Al..."I need to go to my car first and get my glasses!"
*mind you, it is pouring rain outside*
B!tches: "Then go get your glasses!"
*Al & Love still waiting outside the car*
Al: "Do something! Do something!"
...b!tch just wanted the window seat...
I heart my friends!

Code Blue

It's been a rough couple of weeks as far as juggling school and work. I downsized my hours at work, now going from full time to part time shifts. 12 hour shifts is still a hell of a lot of hours to put in especially in my preggo status...but i gots to do what i needs to do to finish school and make ends meet, right? Only a few more months, I keep telling myself that...it'll be all worth it at the end, i tell yah.

So I've been working in the ER for my preceptorship...learning new things, starting IVs, blood transfusions, and hey...even bust out a Grey's Anatomy episode of Code Blue status. Chest compressions and all, I had to start an IV on a poor little ol' woman, who...mind you looked 80 something years old, but was stated as 60? Please...that's the alchy in the system. May taste good when aged...but definitely make one age even more. Not pretty.

Had my fair share of crazy chaos last night. It took 2 male nurses, 4 security guards to put these guy on restraints just for me to...ahem...put in a foley catheter...sorry fellas...not something you'd like to imagine, especially having someone stick a 12 inch rubber tube down your pee-hole. Good times... So that was my lovely experience in the ER....and i state...awesome.

I guess with all of these experiences under my belt...I'm looking into Children's hospital and possibly going into the NICU. Worked on the mother/baby unit for over 5 years...it's time for a change and time to broaden my skills and go elsewhere. It'll be a challenge, I know...but an experience worth learning.

It's close to my bedtime...i'm an old fart, cuz 830pm sounds more like my bedtime. Nights of going out with the B!tches have disappeared...yet i do miss them and those craziness. Growing up, doing the mom thing, and carrying my little peanut in my oversized belly...it's love. I love it...being pregnant is a wonderful experience to share with your significant other. I feel her kicking and moving around... I'm just overly enjoyed and excited to bring her out into the world. At 22 weeks...damn, i'm a cute mommy...haha! I'm more than half way there...just gotta make it through school. I'm starting to waddle...at least I think so. My dad said I was walking weird the other day. HAHA. Ah well...it all goes with the package. And with that said...I'm gonna lay my sleepy head to rest, rub my belly, and say "I love you to my little girl..." and wish you all a Happy Valentines with your loved ones, family, and friends!

The Name Game

What's in a name? Coming up with a name for your little one is by far the hardest thing to do! I mean, come on now...poor child will be stuck with this name for life. Kids can be cruel at a young age and seriously...they can say the darnest things that can even make your child cry...name calling, poking fun. It's a cruel world out there. And you don't want your child to be the center of attention in the madness of poking fun. That's just sad. Parents...really, what are you thinking when you name your child...Bertha or Herbert. How about those celebrities who come up with the unique fruits and vegetables to name their child...Apple? Coco? How about Frank Zappa's kid---Moon Unit? Horrible...that's all I can say.

Toe-MAY-toe....Toe-MAH-toe. How you spell it, can really make a difference in how you say it. Yes, I want my daughter's name to be unique, cute, original...but nothing too crazy. It has to have a nice ring when you say it out loud, nevertheless make sense when you see it on paper as well. Personally, I hate my name...my mom says she loved Barbies and thought they were the most beautiful thing so she named me after the picture perfect, not proportional dolls. Hence my nickname, "Barbie." I guess it's cute for a little girl...but believe me I was teased as a child. Barbara Bush? God it makes me sound older when I say my name...that's how I associate my name...and elderly, white woman. *Ahem, excuse me* There's not that many Asian Barbara's that I know of...except for one other and she's my age. So that makes two in the world. haha.

So in the midst of figuring out a name...hubby and I decided to keep it to ourselves once the baby is born to avoid the..."Oh I used to have a dog by that name"...or "I knew someone of that name who did this and that...blah blah"

Today was a big day for hubby and I. Had an early appointment to meet with my OB to find out the sex of our little "peanut!" For weeks we've been anticipating this moment and it seemed forever long because people kept asking me, "Did you find out yet if it's a boy or a girl?" I can now say that I have and we're very excited to announce that we are having a little GIRL! That's right, a mini beano is growing in my big belly! haha. I swear i'm getting a little thicker in the waist than I should be...in a single months i've gained like 6 pounds! haha! Oh well...i just need to choose healthier snacks! I was so sick and nauseated for the first four months being miserable, eating crackers and ginger tea...I spoiled myself and splurged a little bit and started eating yummier foods once I was able to tolerate it.

It was interesting to see how the little one was growing inside me. As soon as the tech moved the doppler around my belly, my little girl was jumping and swimming all over the place. Every movement seen on the screen, I can feel her kicking and spinning every direction. I'm half way there...it's only a matter of time till we bring our little one out to the real world! =)

Leggo my Preggo!

It's inevitable...i'm definitely showing the baby bump! It's crazy how our bodies can go through so much change in so little time. Nearly 5 months now, my avocado sized baby is taking over my body and I look humongo...for me at least. Most have approached me and say "you're barely showing!" Awesome to hear...but trust me, it's not what i see in the mirror. Hubby loves it...he kisses my belly and says i love you to our little baby. Only a couple more weeks till we find out the gender!

Maternity galore...just bought my first pair of maternity jeans and I look even cuter as a mommy to be! haha! Comfort was my thing...and lemme tell you...these are the best invention ever made for women! I'm sure years ago they were totally outdated and not flattering at all. Now they have cute fits that mimic the styles we wear these days, just with an added garter, secret belly fit for my comfort! That's an added plus! As i begin to grow...i might even post some pics of my growing belly...but we'll save that for later. Don't wanna scare you off with my unflattering belly fat! hahaha. j/k.

Murder, she wrote

They call it the "red ring of death." It's a sad, sad day. I come home only to find out that my rock band sessions have ended and my gears of war has found closure. That's right...the Xbox has made it to its end and has shown it's "red ring of death." After 3 years...damn, that sucks! Ah well...guess it's about time to purchase a PS3? I guess it's all the better now...i'll have my hubby's attention rather than his game playing taking up all the quality time. I can't hate on his hobby...because i, too, enjoy video games...i'm a gamer, i'll admit it. I do love my Wii though! All about it! haha.

Flash Forward

So it's the new year...it's been months since I've last blogged so why not start the new year with updates, right? Last you've read...Alex and I were "trying" for a family....so what's new this time around? YES! we are expecting our first baby! We are so very excited and let me tell you it's been a crazy 4 and a half months with non stop nausea, tiredness, and everything you can imagine a first time mommy would have...I did, right here. All that morning sickness was all day sickness...but that has now subsided. Thank God! I don't know how some women are able to cope with that for a whole nine months! Crazy, i tell yah. I'm not as tired as I used to be...No more hibernating in my room for hours on end, feeling like a bus hit me and sleeping the entire day off! I did have a long stretch of migraines that lasted for days at a time. That bloated feeling? Ahh...lovely! i swear the end of the day i'm looking like i'm 7 months preggo and hubby points out..."oh there's the baby!" nope, sorry....it's just volume of air that i suck in all day...cuz the next morning im looking flat as a board. Sexy!

Boy? Girl? Not yet...in a few weeks we will be able to find out the gender of our little peanut whose now a size of an avocado! Haven't felt the flutters or little kicks...just gas moving around my belly! Sexy! I'm dying to know if it's a boy or a girl so I can get my shopping on! We stepped into Babies R Us the other day....overwhelming! How do you know which brand is better than the other? How do you know what bottles to get? Which stroller is more convenient? Fashion and clothes...i get. Baby stuff?...too much? Don't even know where to begin! haha.

School status? I start up this semester once again next week...hitting the home stretch and i'll finally be done in May! And by that time, my belly will be way out, so much where i won't be able to see my feet anymore! School will be tough while I'm preggo, but i'll manage.
Hubby status? Still has active orders for recall and expected to deploy back to Iraq sometime this summer or early fall. Crossing my fingers that he will be here when the baby arrives. It's been a rollercoaster ride of emotions trying to figure things out with the military. It is what it is...and we pretty much have no control over it. The military owns you!

So with every attempt, I will try to update this blog for your entertainment. It gives me a chance to tell you my story...and my pregnancy experience!
